Getting Started
OnlyPaws is a comprehensive pet adoption platform that connects shelters, rescue organizations, and potential adopters. We provide tools to manage your shelter's animals, streamline the adoption process, and help pets find their forever homes.
To create an account:
- Visit the OnlyPaws homepage
- Click "Sign Up" in the top right corner
- Choose your account type (Shelter or Individual)
- Fill out the registration form
- Verify your email address
- Complete your profile setup
Yes! OnlyPaws is 100% free to use for shelters and rescues. We do not charge a price to list your shelter pets. We also do not ever charge anyone looking for a new friend to offer a home!
Shelter Management
Adding animals is easy:
- Go to your Dashboard
- Click "Add Animal" or navigate to Animals → Create
- Fill in the animal's details (name, species, breed, age, etc.)
- Upload photos
- Set the adoption status
- Click "Save"
Yes! OnlyPaws supports multi-user access. You can invite team members and assign different permission levels (Admin, Staff, Volunteer) through your Shelter Settings page.
We provide an embeddable widget that displays your animals on your website. Visit the Embeddable Widget section for detailed instructions and code snippets.
Adoption Process
The adoption process typically follows these steps:
- User browses available pets
- User expresses interest in a specific animal
- Shelter reviews the application
- Interview/meet-and-greet is scheduled
- Home visit (if required)
- Adoption approval and finalization
- Animal status updated to "Adopted"
Yes, you can customize your adoption requirements, process, and application forms through your Shelter Settings. Each shelter maintains full control over their adoption criteria.
